| God Gives Authority to Men |
|
Mark Holden Picture this dramatic scene! A massive movement of people, over a million strong, along with all of their children, possessions, flocks and herds, has been fleeing for their lives across dry desert ground. Now they have bumped up against a watery shoreline. News has just arrived that they are being pursued by the strongest army yet known to the earth. They are trapped. Panic begins to set in. Discontents begin taunting the leadership. Moses, the man of God yells out, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord..." So what will the Lord do? Will he speak the word and the Egyptians will disappear? Will fire fly down from heaven to devour the armies of Pharaoh? Will a huge tornado sweep all of the soldiers into the sky? Listen to what our Father does say, "Why do you cry to Me?" Can you imagine the response in Moses' heart? There's a pause, a stammer, an "Excuse me, Sir, did I hear you right?" Moses just instructed his people to "Stand still", now note what the Lord says, "Tell the children of Israel to go forward. But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it." God is saying to his man, Moses, "I have given you everything you need for this job. Why are you still standing here? You have been trained, equipped, and authorized, now move out! Do your job. You don't need me to do it for you." The Lord gives authority to men. Dad, he has designed a specific task for you to fill. He wants you to do it. No one else can, and He won't. Are there issues that your family is facing? Lead them forward. Are there decisions that need to be made? Lift up your rod of leadership. Are there relationship needs to address? Be the man, address them. The Lord is saying to you, as His commissioned leader in your home, "I have given you everything you need for this job. Why are you still standing here? You have been trained, equipped, and authorized, now move out! Do your job. You don't need me to do it for you." Man of God, Go for it! |
